Topic: IVF Costs

Hi, I'm new to Perth and am in the process of looking for a clinic to start  treatment. I've rung around the clinics listed  on this site and the costs for the  IVF treament varies by more than $2000 between clinics! Can anyone tell me why this is? Is there something more you get at the higher priced clinic?

Thanks

Re: IVF Costs

Hi Everyone,

I can add to this discussion. Last year I went to what I thought would be the best clinic that was much more expensive from the start of tests and it turns out that the clinic was not able to helo me as I needed a sperm donor.

I have now moved to Concept and am waiting to start treatment and was pleasantly surprised that the fees were around $1800 cheaper.

Re: IVF Costs

You may find this useful - in the West Australian Wednesday 17th March there is a supplement about Concept and their new premises. On page 8 they indicate their costs which will give you an idea of the sort of costs you'll be looking at.

"For the first IVF treatment the full price is $5,750 - but with the medicare rebate of $2,499 and the extra safety net rebate of $1,550, the range of out of pocket expenses is between $1,701 and $2,813.

While a second treatment is the same for full care, the extra safety net rebate is much higher, so the out of pocket expense is only $1,162.

Other common treatments include ICSI ($750 for full care as part of IVF, a total expense of $314 to $414 after the rebates) and embryo freezing ($500, no rebates are allocated). Concept fees have remained unchanged in 2010."

Re: IVF Costs

I have to say i was going thru another Clinic and changed to Concept and they have been nothing but supportive and on the ball. The staff are very friendly and the counsellor is so nice, she makes you feel very comfortable and welcome. I would have no hesitations in recommending Concept to anyone!

Re: IVF Costs

Hi I have been using Pivet Medical Centre for the last few years, I have had one baby with IVF through them and we are currently trying again. Has anyone else used this clinic? how have you found it?

Re: IVF Costs

Hi I am just new to this site,  I was with Fertility Specialists of WA, but as we moved further North we changed clinics tis was not difficult and the clinic forwarded all our details without any fuss we did however have to have an initial meeting with Margo and she was very thourough, chosing to stay with the plan we had only changing a little. We have been using Fertility North and they are fantastic, very friendly and about the same costs as Concept $6500 for ICSI, I fell pregnant on the first treatment, (Unfortunately we lost our little girl at 19 weeks in Feb this year) So we will be back on the rollercoaster this month, Dr Margo Norman is fantastic and very thorough and on the ball with the best treatment at all times. Good luck with whoever you choose

Re: IVF Costs

Hi Carlsdun,

I have heard many positive recommendations about Dr. Norman at Fertility North and so I wish you well with continued treatment at this clinic. I hope you have been able to get the support you have needed for the loss of your little girl.  Fertility North also have an infertility counsellor Dr. Elizabeth Webb who you may want to speak to before trying treatment again - alternatively please contact me (08) 9389 7212 and I can advise you of the right support services or therapists experienced with pregnancy loss.

Regards
Iolanda

Re: IVF Costs

Thanks Iolander,  I have a very good family and friend support group (luckily) and they have been fantastic through this whole experience, but as it is not the first MC, I am now with Dr Pennell for our pg plan and hopefully he will get us to full term.  I am still with Margo for fertility though. Fingers crossed that we can get pg again first time back???

Re: IVF Costs

You are in excellent hands with Dr. Craig Pennell- I have seen several of his patients and he is passionate about helping patients who have been through your experience. Together with Dr. Norman I hope they can bring about your dream.
